Fad Diets…Do They Work Or Just Another Scam?

Why are fad diets becoming a choice of losing weight in many families these days?

Anne Collins reveals some great points on her site AnneCollins.com about fad diets and many other topics relating to dieting. For those who are in need of a safe and permanent weight loss program, do yourself a favor and check out Anne Collins weight loss program.

Looking back, fad dieting has been popular since the 70’s.  But, are they really as beneficial to us as they seem?  If you’re familiar with these diets, you may have heard of the “grapefruit” or “cabbage diet,”just to name a couple.

I did some research on this topic and found almost everyone who tried fad dieting stopped doing them eventually.

Here’s what I found on the popular fad dieting:

  • They are a quick means of losing water weight and some fat, but when you get off the diet the weight comes right back on.
  • According to the American Heart Association many of these diets are misleading in weight loss gains.
  • People get bored with them very quickly.  Gee wizz, I wonder why?  Who the heck wants to eat the same thing over and over again for days or even weeks straight?

I found another article by Fran Chance who also reinforces why you should not consider choosing a fad diet. I totally agree with the points Fran makes on this topic.

In conclusion, if you’re considering  following one of these fad diets remember you will run the risk of eliminating essential vitamins and minerals, decrease the dietary fiber and  essential fatty acids your body needs to function properly.  Fad dieting  has many risks to consider, and neglecting them is just plain ignorant!

Holiday Food Temptations 3 Steps to Victory

The way to beat food temptations, especially during the holidays is to fill your mind with different thoughts, and not your belly.

Isn’t so true, the more you fight the feeling of food temptations, the more it grabs you to want the unhealthy foods.

The best way to beat the food temptations is to refocus on something totally different.

Follow these 3 steps to avoid eating unhealthy during the holidays:

  1. Be true to yourself and know the temptation is real. In fact, it’s so real… This is why it’s very easy to eat lots of the scrumptious chocolates when the candy bowl is passed to you.
  2. Take charge and be responsible to the temptation. No that you can win this battle if you take responsibility over your actions.  Stand up to saying no when the bowl of chocolates is passed around to you.
  3. Expect the temptation to be regularly followed. You will be tempted on a regular basis, every single day, even when the holiday season is over.  But, that’s OK.   Because, as long as you focus your thoughts on the healthy person you are, you will always remind yourself of the end goal.  Which is VICTORY!

Eat Healthy and Well,

Green Leafy Vegetables…Are They Necessary?

Mama always said…”Eat green leafy vegetables if you want to grow up and be strong.”

Well, at least that’s what my Mom always said.  What about YOU, how many times a week do you eat your vegetables?  Did you know, most people eat veggies only once or twice a week.   What’s even more astonishing is the type of vegetables many of us consume.  It’s usually  corn or string beans from a can.

Why would anyone neglect the opportunity to eat green leafy vegetables daily?  Is it because they don’t like leafy greens.   Maybe, it’s because they don’t realize the enormous health benefits associated with eating leafy greens such as:  Broccoli, kale, mustard greens, romaine lettuce, spinach, collard greens, bok choy, turnip greens, and watercress.  Perhaps they feel it’s not a necessary part of their diet.

With all of that said, I would like to see what the overall opinion is on this.  So, below post your opinion to see why most people don’t add green leafy vegetables in their diet more often.
